Overview
Whole Tale is an NSF-funded, open-source platform designed to facilitate reproducible research. It enables researchers to create, share, and execute 'Tales' - executable research objects that encapsulate data, code, computational environments, and narrative. The platform supports explicit citation of externally referenced data and captures provenance information for transparency and reproducibility. Researchers can package their workflows, data, and environments to allow others to review, reproduce, and build upon their findings. Whole Tale is used in academic settings to train researchers on reproducibility practices, supporting computational experiments, and improving the understandability of computational research. It addresses the mismatch between traditional scientific dissemination practices and modern computational research, helping to resolve reproducibility concerns.
