Overview
FieldTrip is an open-source MATLAB software toolbox designed for the analysis of MEG, EEG, and iEEG data. Developed at the Donders Institute, it provides a comprehensive suite of functions for preprocessing, time-frequency analysis, source reconstruction, and statistical analysis of electrophysiological data. The toolbox supports various data formats and incorporates advanced methods for artifact rejection, signal enhancement, and source localization. Its architecture allows for custom preprocessing functions and includes implementations for techniques like Signal Space Separation (SSS) with movement correction. FieldTrip is used in research settings to investigate brain activity related to cognitive, motor, and sensory processes, as well as in clinical studies to understand neurological disorders. By leveraging MATLAB, FieldTrip benefits from a rich ecosystem of numerical computing tools.
