Overview
Cloud Carbon Footprint is an open-source tool designed to provide organizations with the ability to measure, monitor, and reduce carbon emissions stemming from their cloud usage. It aggregates cloud provider usage data, converts it into estimated energy consumption, and factors in the power usage effectiveness (PUE) of the data centers, along with the carbon intensity of the region supplying the power. The tool supports multiple cloud providers, offering a holistic view of cloud emissions. It allows for detailed analysis by cloud provider, account, service, and time period, facilitating targeted reduction strategies like rightsizing or deleting idle instances. The architecture is designed for extensibility, enabling integration with existing applications or dev portals through its core logic, API, front-end dashboard, and CLI.
