Overview
Ableton Link is a technology that synchronizes musical elements across multiple applications running on one or more devices over a local network. It enables musicians to collaborate easily by keeping devices in time, eliminating the hassle of manual setup. Link synchronizes beat, tempo, phase, and start/stop commands. It maintains a temporal relationship between independent timelines of Link-enabled apps, facilitating a natural playing experience. Developers can integrate Link into their applications using the LinkKit SDK for iOS or the cross-platform source code library. Key features include tempo synchronization where any participant can change the tempo, beat alignment ensuring integral values on beat timelines correspond, and phase synchronization for bar and loop alignment. Version 3 includes start/stop synchronization. Ableton Link Audio extends Link with the ability to share audio channels between peers. It is built into Ableton Live and other music-making software and hardware.
